Velvet Edge Boutique

Happy Holidays! It's been a wonderful winter season here at Boutique Academia. Besides filling hundreds and hundreds of orders that will become gifts for awesome women in math & science, we have an exciting announcement: we are now in our first fashion and clothing boutique!

Until now, our jewelry has been carried by museum gift shops and book stores all over the country, but always in places that have a direct link to STEM or academics. Making the crossover to a fashion boutique represents a new step in bringing the beauty and semiotics of math and science imagery to a wider audience. Using the term in its most broad sense (as in "appealing" and "fascinating"), we have to agree that "smart is the new sexy."

Our new favorite clothing shop, the Velvet Edge Boutique, is located in Eugene, Oregon and is owned by Marjorie Taylor and her daughter, Amber Taylor. Marjorie has been a psychology professor at the University of Oregon for 30 years, which gives her particular insight into the dual needs of comfort and style in a university setting. She has a long-standing interest in design and has been invited to show her work in Eugene’s Fashion Week for the past four years. You can read more about the boutique in  this article.
